Two Toned Dresser

When we last larboard my DIY midcentury modern inspired dresser, my husband Tom (who built this dresser from scratch) handed it over to me for finishing.  When he left for work the next morning, he said, “Don’t ruin it.”  Oh, strong.  Thanks for the vote of confidence!  I think he was only half joking.I wanted to depict the box of the dresser in a refulgent white gloss and stain the drawer fronts in a medium brown for a two tone look.  I love this look, and it will be entire in Emma’s bedroom.I barren the unqualified portion with a 220-grit sandpaper.  Then, I primed the box (inside and out) with a good oil-based original.   Once the primer was dry, I used Glidden Trim and Door extra high gloss paint in bright white.  This is a thick, gel paint that doesn’t show brush marks and drips like traditional image.  Glidden sent me some of this paint to prove out on this dresser, and I meditate it was definitely the right choice for this shoot. The recommended method for applying this paint is with a brush, but Glidden says that a high density foam roller can also be used.  I went the roller passing since I was paint a surface that was large, flat and smooth.  It covered wonderfully in two coats.  Although the finish isn’t as entire as I get from my paint sprayer, it still looks a plot better than I would have gotten with traditional latex or oil-based paint. Glidden Trim and Door paint is an aklyd and baked really hard – which makes it great for not only trim and passage but for a piece of equipment in a child’s room.  I utility it on the trim in our powder room, and it has held up perfectly. While the delineate was drying, I stained the drawer fronts with American Walnut from Rustoleum (same paint I used for my CB2 clock project) and beeswax the fronts and drawer sides with Miss Mustard Seed soft wax (my favorite top coat product perpendicular now). The perfect dresser is exactly what I had pictured in my mind when I dreamt this whole thing up in the first place.  EXACTLY.  It’s so nice when that happens! And look at that super high gloss paint.  It’s so luminous that it reflects my upcycled Elvis nontextual matter!(Just for the monument, Emma doesn’t keep to keep my Elvis in her room.  She may get him in my Will one day, but she’ll have to earn him.  I love him that much.  She does, however, get another super special project that I can’t revealing yet.)And Jack (white) and Duke (brown).  They were so ready to arrive in while I was shooting the dresser. Look at Jack’s face!  He’s so grand of himself.Again, I want to give a HUGE bless you to my friend Rayan for designing the device for this dresser and to my husband Tom for building it (I didn’t ruin it!).  I am in reverence of you both and would like to be you when I grow up.Are you inspired?  Who says you can’t have a $1600 dresser for 1/5 of the price?  I sure don’t!This is a underwriter post from Glidden.  All opinions – and Elvis artworks – are my own.

My husband and I just repainted a dresser white, following all of these steps meticulously. The Zinsser cover stain did not cover smoothly at all (we rolled with a smooth lather roller) and left a lot of stippling/dimpling. In spite of the bottle-recommended amount of Floetrol and a punctilious angled Purdy brush, we have very obvious brushwood marks. And the water-based polyurethane yellowed in 2 days. WTF did we do wrong? We do feed in Phoenix, so it’s very dry. Could the dryness and superfast time in which all these stuff dried be to blame? It’s a dresser for our unaccustomed baby’s room, so being a kid leather’s dresser, we’re not too heartbroken since the kid will certainly mess it up anyway. But it precisely didn’t come out looking even close to as flawless as yours.

I painted a dresser and desk for my daughter last year, but they have developed problems that I need to fix. I sanded both down and used wood filler for some spots. I then brushed on two coats of satin finish Valspar paint in black. The problem is that the paint has seemed to remain gaudy. If my daughter sets stuff on top of her dresser, they rod, and in a few little spots the paint has come off. I did not use a clear tegument over the top. I am thinking about lightly sanding down the top, then putting on another light petticoat of picture, and then a clear coat. Do you ponder this will employment?

My dresser is longer but it looks just copy that, except its a darker Cherry Wood. I got the set free from a friend that was refashion. I have the long dresser, the mirror (I’m not using) and headboard and 2 night stands. They are all huge so I don’t have the exemplar and headboard. I often suppose I should draw it all white, but I still similar the ignorant wood. The make over you did is amazing and I love all the makeovers you do. Thanks for the tutorial for other equipment that I want to rework.
